Title: Artificial Pancreas in Colombia: from idealization to reality

Abstract: Type 1 diabetes is a metabolic disease characterized by elevated blood glucose (BG), which has become a major health problem worldwide as its prevalence has risen daily. The ideal technological solution is presented as an automatic and real-time insulin infusion based on glycemic values from a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system, forming a closed-loop system better known as an Artificial Pancreas ()AP). In this seminar, the developments of AP in Colombia are presented, covering its idealization, i.e., how the theory is used to solve a problem, to its materialization, i.e., how that developed theory can be implemented subject to the specific country conditions and requirements.
