Bringing math and medicine together
What is BioModels?
BioModels is a repository of mathematical models of biological and biomedical systems. It hosts a vast selection of existing literature-based physiologically and pharmaceutically relevant mechanistic models in standard formats. Our mission is to provide the systems modelling community with reproducible, high-quality, freely-accessible models published in the scientific literature.

LSM is the home of the Biomodels database (biomodels.org), recently migrated from the European Bioinformatics Institute, where the platform has been developed and deployed for the last 20 years with funding from the European Commission. Biomodels is the world’s largest database of this kind, with over 2700 published models in biology and biomedicine, and the largest collection of curated and certifiably reproducible models. One of the deliverables of the RDA working group described above is a curated database of immune-relevant models that will be developed and housed within Biomodels. The press release from the European Bioinformatics Institute is here: (https://www.ebi.ac.uk/about/news/updates-from-data-resources/biomodels-moves-university-of-florida/), and a story UF published on it is here: (https://ufhealth.org/news/2025/uf-health-to-house-prestigious-mathematical-database).
