Title: Two versions of anticancer treatments combining theoretical and experimental studies.

Abstract: The next generation of protocols for cancer treatment optimization will rely on coordination between experimentation and theory. For many cancers, we are only beginning to understand how the tumor microenvironment is affected by treatments and how the immunological interactions can lead to tumor shrinkage. Our experimental collaborator focuses on triple negative breast cancer which shows none of the standard biomarkers for treatment and is therefore quite difficult to treat. Together, our group is focusing on coupled immune/chemotherapeutic interventions from two standpoints: Quantitative understanding the detailed immunomodulation via novel radiolabeled T-cell longitudinal observations and scheduling data for combined therapy. We will discuss the ODE models of combined therapy with and without T-cell observations as well as the directions to include organ level observations and optimal control analysis.
