PI:

Reinhard Laubenbacher, Ph.D.

Co-PI:

Luis Sordo Vieira, Ph.D.

Project Summary

The goal of the project is to develop and conduct a workshop to inform researchers at Historically Black Colleges (HBCUs) and Universities and Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) of opportunities for research funding through the ARO Biomathematics Program and information and mentoring focused on preparing a competitive application. The grant will provide partial support to participate in the workshop. The workshop will be held in conjunction with the Life Sciences Meeting of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics in Portland, OR during June 10-13, 2024. The workshop will help to increase the number of funded researchers at institutions that serve students from underrepresented groups and will help recruit more students into degree programs in mathematical biology.

Topics Covered: Description of Biomathematics Programs and application process, description of currently funded research, steps to take in preparing applications.
